Botanical Christmas Card From Carlow, Ireland.
We received the most gorgeous Christmas card in the mailbox over the holidays: A homemade card sending us Irish flora in an envelope.
The card is from our Irish cousins, Turtle and Ally Bunbury.
I have yet to write about Turtle, who is always involved in fascinating projects.
A historian and writer, he has written riveting books about Irish history and characters. Among his notable work is Vanishing Ireland, a series of now three books featuring portraits and interviews of men and women “of senior vintage” from across Ireland. Once blacksmiths, saddlers or farmers, they are all amazing Irish characters who are now, unfortunately, part of a disappearing world.
Another project Turtle has just launched is Wistorical, a genealogical project which aims to bring local history to life and past local characters – encouraging people to engage with the incredible stories around them. Check out Wistorical’s facebook page!
Thank you Turtle and Ally for your lovely card!
